When a kidney stone passes into the ureter (the tube bringing urine from the kidney down to the bladder), patients suffer unbearable and unremitting pain. While many stones are able to be passed without any interventions, many others become stuck and are not able to pass, requiring surgical intervention to remove them. Our team provides surgical options for the treatment of kidney, ureteral, and bladder stones, including shock wave lithotripsy (SWL) and laser lithotripsy using ureteroscopic approach. In addition, our team focuses on metabolic evaluation in order to determine the cause of recurrent stone formation, and medical / dietary management with the goal of preventing future episodes of stone disease.
Many men experience slowing of the urinary stream, with increasing frequency of urination, or many trips to the bathroom to void throughout the night. These symptoms are often due to enlargement of the prostate gland. Our team have extensive experience in treatment of prostate enlargement, and offer medical and surgical options for treatment of symptoms associated with this common condition. While many patients will have their symptoms resolved by medications alone, surgical interventions are sometimes necessary.
We provide prostate cancer screening using digital rectal examination and a blood test called prostate specific antigen (PSA).
