Saratoga OB/GYN at Myrtle Street, formerly Myrtle Street Obstetrics & Gynecology, P.C., is dedicated to quality, patient-centered women’s healthcare that helps the patient understand her options and determine her own best choices.

Obstetrics’ family-centered approach to maternity care includes programs to support the entire family and works in concert with our Saratoga Hospital Medical Group – Midwifery and Women’s Health Services providers. Our gynecological team works collaboratively with the patient on medical, surgical, and preventive care for female reproductive health, with lab and imaging services conveniently located on site.

Obstetrics

Obstetrics specializes in pregnancy and childbirth, providing prenatal and postpartum care. Our experienced team provides reassuring, personalized care throughout every step of the pregnancy, including high-risk pregnancy care. Our collaborative approach addresses everything from nutrition to lactation, as well as programs to help the whole family confidently welcome your newborn home.

Gynecology

Gynecology provides medical and surgical treatment of diseases of the female reproductive system, as well as routine prevention services. Our practice provides compassionate, respectful care addressing fertility, birth control, cancer prevention, sexually transmitted infections, menopause, endometriosis, female incontinence, and other health issues.

Saratoga OB/GYN at Myrtle Street offers our patients an outstanding team of board-certified, fellowship-trained physicians, employing the most up-to-date equipment and advanced diagnostic techniques working within the full spectrum of obstetric and gynecological care.

As members of Saratoga Hospital Medical Group, the physicians and advanced practice providers are pledged to the quality outcomes and high standard of care that represents the values of the organization. Their membership also brings the overall practice more closely aligned with Saratoga Hospital and the Saratoga Hospital Medical Group, adding additional resources to expand and enhance services and creating better continuity of care. Prenatal and Postnatal Services

We offer early and regular prenatal care dedicated to the best health of you and your baby. Together, we’ll establish a baseline of your health, conduct lab work, and watch for any changes. We’ll discuss nutrition, exercise, what to expect, and all your options through our collaborative physician-midwife care model, so you can choose the birthing experience that’s right for you. After your baby is born, we’ll continue our compassionate care with postnatal services to help you and your newborn maintain good health at home.

Lactation Counseling

Our providers offer expert care and advice for women experiencing breastfeeding problems, such as latching difficulties, painful nursing, and low milk production. Our compassionate and experienced team will help address any additional concerns, such as meeting breastfeeding goals while returning to work or school, care and use of breastfeeding equipment, and safe storage of expressed milk. Also, we are a milk depot for the Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast (MMBNE).

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a gentle, noninvasive imaging technique that allows the patient and obstetrician to view and monitor every step of the pregnancy. Our practice is proud to offer First Trimester Genetic Screening, including Nuchal Lucency screening for Down syndrome. While ultrasound services are conveniently offered at Myrtle Street, patients are welcome to utilize any one of our imaging locations. Our lab offers the convenience of on-site leading-edge equipment to process many lab tests for same day results.

Nutrition Counseling

Your provider will counsel you on a well-balanced and varied diet, foods to avoid, and the use of nutritional supplements in pregnancy. As your caloric requirements change and issues arise, we’ll continue to provide nutritional counseling throughout your pregnancy.

High Risk Pregnancy Care

We offer screenings to determine any risk to your pregnancy, such as alcohol and substance abuse, smoking, prior pregnancy loss, family history, disease or other condition. We can arrange for Saratoga Hospital’s neonatologist to meet with you, as well, to prepare you for caring for your newborn should there be concern for neonatal abstinence syndrome or other conditions. We have a longstanding relationship with Albany Med’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and can assure a smooth continuity of services between both hospitals.

Infant Care

Our providers will discuss basic infant care with you and your family, answering any questions you may have. Saratoga Hospital also provides an informative Infant Care Class, a two-evening session for expectant and adoptive parents. Topics include newborn characteristics and behavior, hospital routines, daily care and bathing, diapering, swaddling, feeding issues, crying, colic, as well as safety and health information, such as SIDS risk factors and car seat safety.

Gynecology

Gynecology provides medical and surgical treatment of diseases of the female reproductive system, as well as routine prevention services. Routine Preventive Services

Regular, routine gynecological exams can assure your continued reproductive health and are your best bet for prevention or early diagnosis of cancer or other conditions. Exams typically include an evaluation of your current health, breast exam, and pelvic exam. We’ll discuss any changes you’ve been experiencing or questions you may have, and provide vaccinations if needed, including human papillomavirus (HPV).

Contraception Counseling

Our gynecologists can help you choose the right birth control method for you. Some examples include the birth control pill, abstinence, intrauterine device (IUD), patch, condom, or implant. Premenstrual and Menopausal Management

We can help you manage any discomfort you may experience during your monthly periods or menopause. We’ll discuss lifestyle changes such as diet, stress reduction, and exercise, as well as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), diuretics, hormonal contraceptives, hormone therapy, vaginal estrogen, low-dose antidepressants and other medications targeted to specific symptoms.

STD Prevention and Treatment

Sexually transmitted diseases are not uncommon, and your gynecologist is here to answer any of your questions, discuss best methods of prevention, and provide treatment so you can maintain the best possible reproductive health. STDs we treat include, but are not limited to, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and genital herpes. It is important not to ignore any symptoms you may be experiencing. It may not be an STD, so the sooner you know for sure, the better. If it is, untreated STDs can lead to infertility or other serious complications.

Robotic, Laparoscopic, & Laser Surgery

Our state-of-the-art surgical services include advanced diagnostic equipment and guided imaging for more precise surgical targeting. Our minimally invasive procedures provide shorter recovery times and can often send you home the same day, depending on your condition and chosen procedure. Our practice offers laparoscopic, laser surgery, and da Vinci Robotic Surgery for procedures such as hysterectomies and endometrial ablation. Your gynecologist will answer any questions you may have about your options for traditional and minimally invasive surgery.

Infertility Services

Infertility is fairly common—about 10 percent of childbearing-aged women have difficulty becoming or staying pregnant, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Some common causes of infertility in women include ovulation disorders, maternal age, tubal occlusion, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and endometrial polyps, among others.  Our compassionate team offers a thorough evaluation and can discuss treatments with you, from simple changes in intercourse technique to surgery, as well as referrals for in vitro fertilization.

Gynecologic Oncology

Our compassionate gynecology and oncology teams are specialists in diagnosing and treating cancers that are located on a woman’s reproductive organs, including ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, vaginal cancer, cervical cancer, and vulvar cancer. Should abnormal results appear on routine exams, we will have a conversation with you about next steps to identify and treat the finding. We’ll discuss all of your options, including surgical, chemotherapeutic, or radiation, so that together we can outline the best treatment regimen for you.
