A U.S. News & World Report ”Best Regional Hospital”
U.S. News & World Report has named Saratoga Hospital a ”Best Regional Hospital” for 2018-2019, a distinction shared by less than 12 percent of hospitals nationwide. Saratoga Hospital was rated ”high-performing” in three specialties, procedures, and conditions: orthopedics, heart failure, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Those ratings helped earn Saratoga Hospital a "best" designation for northeastern New York - and a place among New York State's top 25 hospitals for high-quality care.
Mission: Lifeline® Gold Receiving Quality Achievement Award
Saratoga Hospital is the proud recipient of the Mission: Lifeline® Gold Receiving Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks. Opened in 2017, the hospital's Interventional Cardiology Program earned this rigorous recognition following its second year of 24/7 emergency cardiac services.
Top Performer in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality
Saratoga Hospital has been recognized as a "Top Performer" by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. The Healthcare Equality Index, developed by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, provides healthcare facilities the necessary information and resources to ensure that the LGBTQ community has access to patient-centered care. Saratoga Hospital is one of the 626 healthcare facilities that participated in the HEI 2018 survey and is the only hospital to receive this designation in the Capital Region and North Country.
Blue Distinction® for Spine Surgery and Knee and Hip Replacement
BlueShield of Northeastern New York has once again named Saratoga Hospital a Blue Distinction Center for three surgical specialties- spine and knee and hip replacement ”“ as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. Saratoga Hospital is the only Capital Region facility recognized as a Blue Distinction Center+ for Spine Surgery. Hospitals must demonstrate expertise in delivering specialty care, resulting in fewer patient complications and readmissions compared to other hospitals to earn a designation.
Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence
Saratoga Hospital has been designated a Magnet® hospital for nursing excellence since September 10, 2004, when we became the first in the Capital Region to attain this distinction. Granted by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, Magnet designation is widely regarded as the gold standard for patient care and is reserved for the best nursing teams in the nation. In June 2010, Saratoga Hospital earned the more difficult Magnet re-designation, which is achieved by only 3% of hospitals that attempt it.
Commission on Cancer Accreditation
Our cancer services have been accredited by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons. The voluntary accreditation demonstrates that Saratoga Hospital meets the highest standards for quality of cancer care.
Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
The American College of Radiology ( ACR ) has accredited our Women's Imaging Center as a "Breast Imaging Center of Excellence." The ACR designation signifies that our Women”s Imaging Center is fully accredited in all breast imaging services: mammography, magnetic resonance imaging ( MRI ), stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.
American Heart Association Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite
As a result of our successful efforts to create a healthy workplace and culture of wellness, Saratoga Hospital has been designated as an American Heart Association Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite.
Training Magazine”s Top 125
Saratoga Hospital has been named one of Training Magazines "Top 125" in 2008, 2009, 2010 and in 2013. The award recognizes excellence in staff education and development. Included in the Top 125 are organizations such as IBM , Ritz-Carlton Hotels, Verizon, Microsoft, McDonald”s, General Mills, and Baptist Health.
HANYS Auxiliary of the Year
Our Saratoga Hospital Volunteer Guild is the first and only auxiliary in New York State to be honored twice, by the Healthcare Association of New York State, as Auxiliary of the Year. The award, presented to the Guild in 2008 and 2012, recognizes outstanding achievements in community outreach and/or advocacy.
The Hospital's Mollie Wilmot Radiation Oncology Center has been awarded full accreditation by the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO). This accreditation indicates that our Radiation Oncology Center, staff, policies, and treatment methods all meet or exceed national standards. It also underscores our continued commitment to providing the highest quality care.
MBSAQIP Accredited Center
Saratoga Bariatric Surgery and Weight-Loss Program, a service of Saratoga Hospital, has been granted full accreditation as a comprehensive bariatric facility by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program. The ”comprehensive” designation ”the highest available from MBSAQIP” signifies that Saratoga Bariatric Surgery & Weight-Loss Center meets rigorous standards for bariatric care. The designation also indicates that the Saratoga program provides the resources necessary to meet the needs of bariatric patients, both pre- and postoperatively.
Blue Distinction® Center+ for Bariatric Surgery
Saratoga Bariatric Surgery and Weight-Loss Program, a service of Saratoga Hospital, has been awarded the Blue Distinction® Center+ designation for Bariatric Surgery as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program of BlueShield of Northeastern New York. Saratoga Hospital”s Bariatric Program is the only program in the Saratoga region to have earned this national distinction. The BDC+ distinction for Bariatric Surgery is awarded to facilities with national accreditation that show expertise in delivering improved patient safety, better health outcomes, cost-efficiency, and high bariatric-specific quality measures.
Aetna Institutes of Quality Award for Bariatric Surgery
Aetna makes information about the quality and cost of health care services available to its members to help them make informed decisions about their health care needs. In line with this goal, Aetna recognizes hospitals and facilities in its network that offer specialized clinical services for certain health conditions.
IAC Accreditation for Medical Imaging
Saratoga Hospital has been accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for both Echocardiography as well as Vascular Ultrasound. This recognition demonstrates our commitment to quality in patient care, quality in imaging, quality in interpretation, quality in reporting, and most of all, the overall quality of our facility.
HealthCare's Most Wired Winner 2017
For the second year in a row, Saratoga Hospital has been named one of the nation's ”most wired” healthcare providers. The ”most wired” designation is based on an annual Hospital & Health Networks magazine survey that measures how hospitals and health systems use technology to improve communication, safety and patient-provider relationships.
Patient-Centered Medical Home Recognition
All of our Saratoga Hospital Medical Group Primary Care practices, as well as our Saratoga Community Health Center, have earned National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) recognition as patient-centered medical homes. This designation affirms that our primary care practices put patients at the forefront of care, an approach that improves both the quality of care and the patient experience.
Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence
Saratoga Hospital has been designated a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence (DICOE) by the American College of Radiology (ACR), the highest form of recognition an imaging department can receive nationally. The designation applies to the imaging facilities at both the Hospital and Wilton Medical Arts locations, the first facilities to earn this recognition in New York State outside of the New York City and Buffalo regions. The DICOE program, which represents the pinnacle of medical imaging care, requires a rigorous approval process. It is an achievement that goes beyond accreditation to recognize best-quality imaging practices and diagnostic care in all the services the Hospital's imaging department provides, including quality patient care.
College of American Pathologists (CAP)
As the leading organization with more than 18,000 board-certified pathologists, the College of American Pathologists (CAP) serves patients, pathologists, and the public by fostering and advocating excellecnec in the practice of pathology and laboratory medicine worldwide. The CAP's Laboratory Improvement Programs, initiated 65 years ago, currently have customers in more than 100 countries, accrediting 7,700 laboratories and providing proficiency testing to 20,000 laboratories worldwide.
